Winter wedding season is here and it is our favorite time of year! We love everything about winter weddings and as usual are excited to embrace this snowy season. As much as we love spring and summer color stories, we are excited to change things up and focus on beautiful winter wedding color palettes that will enhance your wedding in a festive way. We’re going to go show you a few of our favorite color schemes that we truly believe can fit into a variety of themes and styles and one to match all personalities!

Holiday Romance

The first color story is of course the most classic, Holiday Romance. Holiday romance is exactly what you think of when you envision a holiday wedding. Festive reds, vibrant greens, rich white blooms and of course mixed metallics to dress it up! This color story is the perfect Christmas inspired wedding look. The month of December is full of weddings and we know that Christmas tends to be the main theme, so we want to show you ways to have a festive Christmas wedding without feeling like the theme is overwhelming. Red or green bridesmaids’ dresses are the perfect way to start. It’s simple, understated and compliments the atmosphere. Another way to really enhance this color scheme is by the fabrics you choose. What we mean by this is using lush seasonal fabrics like velvet/velour, furs and satin that will enhance the theme of the wedding and the color story chosen. Don’t forget you can also use classical linens like Christmas plaid or tartan to dress up your tables. Include festive flowers to enrich the holiday aesthetic like lots of greenery, pine and vibrant red blooms including freedom roses, ranunculus, spray roses and more.

Icy Blues

The next winter wedding story we love this season is Icy Blue. This is for the couple that wants to really play up the beautiful natural snowy backdrop we have all winter season. This concept works wonderfully for not only an outdoor winter wedding, but in a mountain or forest environment. The icy hues of blue really pop in a white background or with a grey winter sky. We find using delicate flowers like delphinium, blue hydrangea and blue thistle make a simple statement. Another touch of blue we love to include is through table decor. A light blue table runner or linen is soft and subtle and ties in your theme. It’s also fun to include shades of blues in your wedding day look from your crown, sash, grooms bowtie, bridesmaid dresses and more. Have fun with this frozen look and be the ice princess you’ve always dreamed of.

Winter Neutrals

Winter Neutrals is a more dramatic and moody color scheme, which we admire for a winter wedding. Many think pairing neutrals with a winter wedding may look a little flat and not vibrant enough. We think just the opposite! We absolutely love winter neutrals and all of the creative ways to make them work in the winter season. The first thing we love is a neutral bridal party. From champagne, beige, taupe, grey and more, these tones will create a light and airy bridal party look while still feeling fashionably appropriate for the winter season. Another thing that we love to enhance while featuring neutrals is natural accents. Using natural looking fabrics like furs (faux or real) is a fun way to incorporate the theme. It’s also recommended to play up natural elements like colors, textures, floral accents and more to accentuate your theme. This can help create a moody natural atmosphere for a winter setting. From linens, stem-wear, charger plates and more, remember even though you’re in the neutral family, you can still make a vibrant and radiant ambiance for your winter wedding day.

Emerald Green

The next color story is definitely trending this year and we are jumping on board! Emerald Green gives off a very royal and luxurious feel when it comes to creating a wedding color story. Similar to our holiday romance palette, you can really enhance the emerald color story by using rich fabrics like velvet and satin in all different aspects from tuxedos, suit jackets, bowties, bridesmaid dresses and more. We are absolutely in love with the idea of starting with an emerald base on your reception tables and featuring fun accents to give a glamorous feel. Pairing emerald linens with natural greenery gives you great dimension in different shades of green. We recommend pairing emerald with gold or copper accents including charger plates, stemware, candlesticks, jewelry and more.

Winter White

Winter White is one of our favorite color palettes this season! There has forever been a rule of thumb that you are not allowed to wear white before Labor Day, but winter white has changed that! There is an exception when it comes to “winter white.” Winter white is now a category of its own in both fashion and design and it includes a heavier style fabric and a pure white look. When it comes to winter weddings, we know the white dress is a staple for any time of the year. However, winter white accessories can be a fabulous addition. From fur stoles to shawls, capes and more, dressing up your wedding gown with a white winter accessory to keep you warm is the first step we love. The next white element we love bringing in to your décor is of course flowers. We absolutely love bright white flowers in our centerpieces, bouquets and ceremony backdrops. Using lots of whites accents will create a soft yet dramatic and sophisticated feel and emphasize the season.

Moody Reds

The last color palette that we absolutely love for winter weddings is Moody Reds. On the color wheel there are so many options of red tones/shades and they fit in with almost every wedding season in regard to design. The first aspect we find reds work really well in is the bridal party. Standing in the middle of all your girls in gorgeous red makes a big statement! We also love incorporating this color for the grooms’ party from bowties, ties, boutonnieres and more. The next feature and probably our most favorite red element are flowers! Most flowers come in multiple shades of red and many are prominent in the winter floral season. From red, burgundy, rosewood, deep red, eggplant and more, the options are endless. Incorporating multiple red tones completes a floral arrangement because they truly compliment each other so well. Ranunculus, peonies, spray roses, astranthia and red seeded eucalyptus are just a few of our favorite blooms. Mixing red flowers with lots of greenery creates a stunning moody holiday setting.
