It’s time to get our mitzvah season on! We are excited to share with you the biggest mitzvah trends of 2020 hot off the press. Bar/ Bat Mitzvahs are one of our favorite types of events to design and create from start to finish because they incorporate so many different elements. They truly are a creative outlet for not only the family celebrating but personalized to the birthday girl/boy especially. This is the time where the kids get to make the call and no idea is too big or too small. Themes, styles, decor, giveaways, entertainment, food, attire and more. There are so many ins and outs to designing your big day. Before you get your party planning started, check out the top trends we believe are going to sweep the mitzvah market this year. You don’t want to miss out!

Bold & Bright Colors

BOLD & BRIGHT…and you are going to love it! There is nothing more fun than a room that has an explosion of color.  This trend can relate to many varying themes and types of parties that we truly believe could work for everyone’s interests in different ways. You can mix and match color schemes, focus on one set color or use every color in the rainbow. After all, it’s your prerogative! Showing off your color choices in flowers, fabrics, stemware, charger plates, vases and furniture are just some options we have seen that blow our minds. Incorporating bright colorful accents like neon lighting, ribbon streamers, hanging lanterns and balloon art is another great way to build up your theme.

Retro Vibes

When picking a theme for your mitzvah we know the options are endless. But one direction we think can’t lead you wrong is Retro Vibes! Get ready to rock your guests with influences from the 70’s and 80’s on a night at the sunset strip. Big hair, big dreams and big décor! This theme can be achieved in many different ways and can be as over the top as you want it or as subtle and simple. There are so many elements to incorporate from décor, entertainment, seating styles, stage design, dance floor logos and more. It’s going to be a hippie dreamland! Including accents of things that remind you of “retro vibes” like lightning bolts, neon, pop art, hippie décor, music notes and other vintage accessories is the perfect way to get everyone in the theme.

Photo Op!

It is no surprise to say we are living in the world of social media and what would social media be without pictures. Kids in today’s society are absolutely obsessed with social media platforms and connecting with their friends. So why not have this as an element at the party of the year. Photo booths are a huge trend that is coming in hot this mitzvah season and we are excited because there are so many different ways that you can incorporate this into your big night. Photo backdrops composed of flower walls, graffiti artwork and balloon décor are just a few ideas you can create. Including props into your photo booth can make it interactive and fun. But, were raising the stakes and creating fully immersed photo rooms! This will look like a scene out of a movie that fits in perfectly with the theme for a fun interactive photo experience. Another way to get these photo booths really trending is by incorporating social media aspects. There are so many companies that offer photo booths that send pictures directly to the kids social media which makes it fun and exciting for them. The kids want to have fun using hashtags and sharing mitzvah photos with their friends. So why not incorporate this simple step. It’s fun, it’s silly and mostly it’s memories!

Art Deco Glamor

The next trend that we want to talk about is an Art Deco theme mitzvah. This is for our girly girls out there who want a night to remember. This theme is so appealing as it is sophisticated, but pretty and pure at the same time. Including different types of florals from tropical palm leaves, roses, modern greenery and white blooms is the perfect base for creating this feminine haven. Adding in fun and festive prints that fit the theme like palm leaf logos, diamond inspired décor, glitzy accents, bubble art, metallic balloons and jewels will bring this room to life! The art deco style can be achieved by an inspiration from classic movies such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Gentleman Prefer Blondes. Have fun with black and white patterns, stripes and classic colors like pastel blue, light pink, teal and reds for a sophisticated New York City scene. The 1940’s vintage glam vibe is back.

Urban Influences

One of the newest trends that we are seeing hit the scene in a big way is Urban Influences. Creating an urban inspired environment is a really cool way to bring that individuality to your event. This can be a very modern look with clean lines, white flowers and straight vases, but it also displays a funky edge and style at the same time. Including different types of metallic elements, mixed metal vases, and dimensional textured fabrics is the base to your theme. This creates a clean, industrial and modern look that is still sophisticated enough to be a night on the town. Graffiti and “street art” is the perfect way to bring this theme to life and give that edge you are longing for. This style works really well for our funky mitzvah kids who still want that a stylish look with some funk. Include design elements in the DJ booth decor, stage design, food displays, lighting and more. Your guests will be in awe as they step into a Brooklyn inspired indoor/outdoor space!

Swag, Swag & More Swag!

SWAG! What is a mitzvah without swag? Swag is absolutely one of the biggest trends of 2020 and it is only getting bigger from here. For those of you who may not know what swagger means, in the business world it refers to ‘free promotional products’. And for the mitzvah world, it’s a personalized giveaway extravaganza! Swag can and does consist of many different products and items from footwear, hoodies, personalized hats, duffel bags, sweatpants, makeup, electronics, candy and the list goes on. It is really cool because now swag is so much more interesting than it used to be. Back in the day, most attendees got the same t-shirt as a thank you favor, but in 2020 the swag game has stepped up in a big way. From cubbies for each kid filled with gifts to personalized graffiti sweatshirts, bedazzled tanks, cozy onesies and more, the options are endless and can be personalized to fit all themes, styles, budgets and events!

Sports Night

The next thing that keeps getting bigger every year in our society as well as the mitzvah world is the sports theme. Sports theme mitzvahs are so relevant and important because so many of the kids celebrating their mitzvah have a passion for the sports they love and play. From hockey, football, baseball, tennis, ballet, gymnastics and more, sports are everywhere we look. This is a fun idea because you can incorporate the theme in many elements of the room. Featuring sports equipment in table centerpieces, hanging sports memorabilia, or even as mind blowing as having and ice-skating rink right in the middle of the room… the sky is the limit! Another element that sports offer is the design aspects that compliment it so well. A combination of modern meets vintage style works really well with baseball, football and basketball because a lot of the sports memorabilia can lend itself to a old fashioned look. This is a great way to feature both modern and sophisticated décor with sports elements. This is not only very appealing to the adult guests, but also the kids enjoying their night out at the ball game.

Festive Food

Interactive food stations are the newest trend in the catering world and we are bringing them to the life of mitzvahs! Food trucks, food court inspired serving stations and interactive food stations are a big hit with the kids. Kids absolutely love to serve themselves while going up to each station and getting their own plate. Have fun while designing your food stations from ideas on how the food will be served to having physical food trucks on site. Even creating food truck art! This is a really fun way to feel like you are at a new event like never before. Other interactive food stations that friends will love include a take away candy table, and ice cream sundae bar, cotton candy station and popcorn cart. Let your kids decide what they want to have for dinner and they will certainly have the best time eating it as well.
