As special event florists and event designers, we love the opportunity to appreciate all types of designs, décor and more by our fellow industry influencers. We can’t believe it’s already here…but Halloween came sooner than we thought, and we wanted to take the time to appreciate this fun and one of a kind holiday! As Halloween is different from other holidays, it still wants to be celebrated in terms of décor and design. Start getting in a festive mood as it’s time to create the perfect Halloween haven with spooky and classy designs. When we think of Halloween Décor, we imagine silly and fun items that you can find at any basic party store. Unfortunately, it often looks more cheesy than authentic. But we’re excited to show you a few ways to create traditional and authentic Halloween decorations that will leave your guest under a spell!

The first thing that we love to decorate is, of course, outdoors. This can be the front porch, the front door, the windows as well as the lawn. As Halloween is our first site of Autumn, we love to incorporate a little bit of Fall into our outdoor decorations. We love creating beautiful door garland of our favorite seasonal blooms including oak leaves, sunflowers, wheat, daisies, spray roses and more. Making the base of the garland with a substantial amount of oak leaves, foliage or greens is a really good way to start. We love adding in pops of colorful or spooky blooms as well as Halloween accents. Creating fun Halloween wreaths is another one of our favorite décor elements. Your wreath can have a Halloween theme like spiders, witches, ghosts and more or stick with a simply happy Halloween to match your fall designs!

The next thing we love to decorate is of course the fireplace or mantle. The mantle in itself can offer a really spooky Halloween twist and that is one of the reasons that it’s so commonly decorated for this holiday. Firstly, add lots of candles to create that dark and eerie ambience in the fire place and on the mantle. String cobwebs over the candles for an realistic appeal. The next step is to add in florals, whether it’s a man made silk Halloween garland to natural blooms, a little pop of flowers bring this décor from mediocre to high end. Next it’s time for the Halloween elements to spice this setting up. Adding in décor pieces like a witches brooms, skulls, flying bats to name a few is a fun way to bring your theme to life. The options are endless while designing your mantle and always remember we love incorporating our favorite blooms! We also have a lot of fun making flowers spooky by spray painting them dark colors or using silks to appeal to our frightening aesthetic.

The last element we love to dress up for Halloween is the dinning room table. Halloween isn’t traditionally a ‘sit at the table’ kind of holiday, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t love to create a stunning table display. The first step to creating a centerpiece is to envision what can be used to achieve a look with lots of textures, dimensions and different design elements. Working with a variety of flower types and a mixture of Halloween accessories is a perfect start. What we love about Halloween is that you can go in so many different design directions. From creating a bright and festive day of the dead the centerpiece, to a dark queen of the spiders arrangement or a ghosts and goblins theme, the options are endless. Another fun element to enhancing your Halloween table is by adding in decorative charger plates, festive napkins and unique and place cards. Lastly you don’t want to forget the Halloween stable, the good ol’ fashion pumpkin! Pumpkins of course create the typical Halloween spirit’ and we love including them in our designs, but have fun with it. Changing pumpkins from their original aesthetic by spray painting them, drawing on them or adding other decorative elements is a great way to make your centerpiece couture and be innovative with your Halloween displays.
