Something Old

Something old may be the most special and of course the most sentimental. Something old can mean so many different things to every person. Whether it’s a token that is 10 years old or 50 years old, it isn’t any less important! When we think of “something old” we usually imagine a vintage cameo passed down from the brides great grandmother or a piece of lace from her mothers veil. Something old usually pays homage to the bride’s family and keep her connected to her ancestors in the sweetest way possible. It’s a way of representing family that may not be present, but always making sure they are there in spirit. A few items that we love for something old may include:

  • Family heirlooms including jewelry, lockets and pendants.
  • Pictures of loved ones in lockets, charms attached to your bouquet, or displayed around your reception room. We love the idea of a memory table!
  • Wearing a vintage wedding veils is a beautiful touch or sewing a piece of material into your dress to keep it close to your heart!
  • Lastly, a book of worship that has been passed down in your family for generations to be presented during your ceremony.

Something New

Something new is of course a new article that you purchase to be worn on your big day! It represents optimism for your bright future and wishes you good luck as a newlywed couple. Something new is a lot of fun because you get to decide what this item is and how it will enhance your wedding day look. Of course you will have a lot of “new” items for your wedding, so it’s important to make your “something new” stand out! A few items we love our brides to lavish themselves with include:

  • Your new initials! If you are taking your grooms name, why not include your NEW initials into a piece of jewelry or somewhere embroidered on your dress.
  • Go traditional; why not buy a fancy lace garter for your groom to have a laugh with!
  • Personalized champagne flutes are a beautiful way to bring in something new and have fun toasting the night away!
  • We know you have seen these gorgeous personalized wedding clutches! This is a new item that is used on your wedding day, but can forever be enjoyed as a special token.

Something Borrowed

Something borrowed may be one of the most important aspects of this old saying as it brings good luck. This can be an item borrowed from good friends or family members that have been fortunately united for 30 years in a beautiful marriage. “Something borrowed” from a happily married couple passes along good wishes of love and success for your relationship and marriage now and in the future. Keep the good juju going!

  • A unique way to borrow from a loved one is by dancing to the same wedding song. Maybe your parents have their song on lend to you, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
  • Another beautiful item that can be borrowed is a cake topper or cutting knife. This can be a beautiful crystal set that has brought years of luck to your loved ones.
  • Lastly, jewelry is a perfect something borrowed. It can be a piece of jewelry that was worn by your sister or best friend on their wedding day, and it’s a sweet token of appreciation from them.

Something Blue

Something blue may not be for everyone, but you can’t forget the last part of the saying! “Something blue” is a very significant aspect symbolizing purity, love and loyalty. Your something blue can be bright and bold, or it can be a subtle and simple depending on your preference! A few great items that we love to see in blue are:

  • A pop of SHOE! For the most part, a wedding shoe is only seen when shown, so why not have a fun little secret under that ball gown with a stunning pair of vibrant blue pumps!
  • As wedding florist we love to include something blue into the bouquet with a light pop of color in the blooms or a subtle ribbon to compliment the look!
  • A handkerchief can definitely come in handy as a emotional bride, so why not embroider a little blue heart or a love note onto your personalized wedding hanky.
