They came, they saw, they have conquered!!! Whimsical and organic bouquets have taken over the wedding world, and we are proud to be supporters! We hate to admit it, but the traditional round bouquet just isn’t doing it for us this season (but it will always hold a special place in our hearts!!!). We not only LOVE this organic wild flower bouquet style, but it’s safe to say we NEED it!

Capturing the perfect wild flower bouquet can be a difficult task, and we know from personal experience that sometimes it’s a trial and error process. Things don’t always goes exactly how you envision it, but most of the time the end result is still picture perfect! These bouquets are known in the industry by many different names; from whimsical, organic, botanical, wild flower and bohemian, they vary in design and style, but hold the same concept.

The basic concept of this style bouquet can be simple and with a few easy steps that bring it to life! One initial step to take while designing a whimsical bouquet is picking a theme of flowers to use. From novelty blooms, rustic stems, to colorful pops, having an initial design and style concept helps for an easier building process of your arrangement. Next, picking a main focus flower to work around can be really helpful in giving your bouquet stability and balance. Focus flowers we love to feature can include dahlia, peonies, anthirium, protea and more!

The next step is to come in with a few secondary blooms of your choice. These stems fill in the shape of the bouquet, while enhancing your focus flower! Secondary blooms we have a lot of fun working with come from different flower classes including spray roses, ranunculus, sweet pea, anemone, scabiosa and more!

Lastly, it’s our favorite part, greenery and textural blooms! Use lots of eucalyptus, ruscus, astrantia, lace flower, astilbe and more to fill in the empty space and add lots of texture. Using a variety of these florals gives your bouquet that gorgeous dimension, texture and our favorite saying “ like it just grew there” look.

Now that you have the basic concept of designing your bouquet, it’s important to learn a few new ideas and elements to help you enhance this design and create the perfect botanical bouquet for you! As we stated above, the first trick we love is using lots and lots of greenery. Greenery gives a complete romantic and organic feel to your bouquet. It flows, moves naturally and allows for a stunning wild flower element. Another trick we love to offer is using non-traditional flowers! This is a fun concept to play with because your bouquet is a non-traditional shape, so why not go with non-traditional blooms as well! Have fun with your flower combinations while including tropical blooms, orchids, tulips, pampas grass, wheat, novelty stems and more.  There is no right or wrong answer while designing these bouquets, be creative and let natures beauty do the work for you!
